Exposure to sunlight can have adverse effects on the molded or extruded article.  UV radiation can break down the chemical structures in the material resulting in cracking, chalking, and loss of physical properties such as compression set, elongation, and other properties.

The UV resistance is also dependent on the color of the compound. Black materials have the greater resistance because carbon black is one of the most effective UV stabilizers.  In natural or pre-colored compounds CORE Elastomers can incorporate UV additives to reduce the loss of properties when exposed to UV radiation.
